Corporate Responsibility - Initiatives

GGCL, as an organization gain a lot from the society. So when we are called upon to do our duty towards a larger community, GGCL does not shy away or take a step backwards. We always try to do our bit as part of our CR initiatives. The opportunities that have come our way to contribute our share for the betterment of the society have been in the field of health, environment, education, community support and others. Some of our corporate responsibility initiatives include

Health

5th Annual Motif Charity Walk - 2007

GGCL supported the 5th Annual Motif Charity Walk 2007 -- an event that brings together the people of Ahmedabad, the commercial capital of Gujarat, for a noble cause, combined with creating awareness about health. Every year, Motif Inc - an IT company based in Ahmedabad - organizes a walk to generate funds from corporates and individuals. These funds are then provided to an organisation working for social cause.

In 2007, the beneficiaries that GGCL supported include Andh Kanya Prakash Gruh – Home for visually impaired girl child, Gujarat Stree Pragati Mandal, Mentally challenged children and Sense International – an organization working for hearing and visually impaired children. The walk was organised on February 4 by Motif and over 2,700 people participated in the walk.

Environment

Prakriti, Environment Education bus

An environment education bus named Prakriti is creating environment awareness among children and acts as a mobile resource centre. The project undertaken jointly with BG India imparts awareness about the environment using a number of games and audio-visual aids.

Energy

Solar lamps at Gandhinagar garden

Solar lights adorn the Punit Van developed by the forest department in Gandhinagar. The solar lamp posts carry Gujarat Gas Company Limited name on them.

Education

CNG Mechanic Training programme
GGCL ‘s CNG Mechanic Training programme at Surat provides formal training to mechanics on CNG vehicles thus helping them develop skill sets for a better livelihood.
