Hasmukh Shah

Mr. Hasmukh Shah - Chairman

Mr Hasmukh Shah has been holding the office of the Chairman of Gujarat Gas Company Limited since 1999. Prior to this, Mr Shah was the Chairman & Managing Director of Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd (IPCL).

Some of his earlier posts include Joint Secretary to the Prime Minister; Secretary, Posts & Telegraph Board; Founder Chairman, Gujarat Institute of Desert Ecology; Chairman, Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation (GIIC); Chairman, National Institute of Design for 11 years; Vice Chairman, GE Capital (India); Advisor, General Electric Co.; Chairman, Gujarat Industrial Research & Development Agency (GIRDA); Chairman, Vikram A. Sarabhai Community Science Centre; Member Board of Governors of IIT (Mumbai); Chairman, Gujarat Ecology Commission and Joint Director, Bureau of Public Enterprise, Govt. of India. Besides, he has also headed several state and Union government committees.
 

Derek Fisher

Mr. Derek Fisher

Derek Fisher has been appointed as the AGM for BG India.

Derek has extensive experience in exploration and production, power generation and transmission and distribution. He has been the AGM for BG Tunisia since April 2004, during which period he led the sanctioning and building of the major Hasdrubal project, which comes on stream next year. He was previously the AGM for BG South East Asia and the AGM for BG Philippines. As AGM for BG India, he will be based at BG India’s headquarters in Mumbai.
Prior to joining BG Group in 1998, Derek held a range of senior management posts in the energy and infrastructure sectors, with experience across Asia including India.

Derek graduated from Purdue University, US, with a Bachelor Degree in Science Engineering and from Northeastern University, US, with a Master Business Administration Degree.
 

Rajeev Khanna

Mr. Rajeev Khanna - Director
 
Mr Rajeev Khanna has graduated in petroleum engineering from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad. He is an MBA and holds a Diploma in Petroleum Resource Management.
 
Mr Khanna has experience of more than 33 years in the Indian petroleum industry and the Government of India. He joined the BG Group in May 2006 from Gas Authority India Ltd. (GAIL), where he was Executive Director, Business Development. He has also worked with the Planning Commission as Joint Advisor-Petroleum (Ministry of Planning and Programme Implementation), Oil India Limited, ONGC holding responsible positions.
 
Mr Rajeev Khanna heads BG India’s Policy and Corporate Affairs department. His overall responsibility is to align BG India’s Government Relations strategy with the business strategy, provide support in new business initiatives and enhancing the corporate image. Mr Khanna also manages BG India’s relationships with external stakeholders on policy matters, regulations, internal and external communications, branding and marketing, corporate responsibility programme and BG India’s endeavours towards sustainable development.
 

Pradip Khandwalla

Prof. Pradip Khandwalla - Director
 
Prof. Pradip Khandwalla is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has done his MBA from Wharton, Pennsylvania and Ph.D. from Carnegie-Mellon, USA.
 
Prof. Khandwalla’s research and teaching contributions have been in organisational theory and design and restructuring of organisations for management of excellence, innovative turnaround management, effective management of public enterprises and governmental organisations, and creativity and innovation. He taught at McGill University, Canada for several years. He was associated with the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad as a professor from 1975 to 2002. He was L&T Chair Professor of Organisational Behaviour at IIMA from 1985 to 1991 and then the Director of IIMA till 1996.
 
He has made excellent contribution in the areas of management, organisational sciences etc. by authoring over a dozen books and 80 papers and articles in Indian and foreign journals and learned anthologies. He has served on the editorial/advisory boards of several Indian and internationals journals. He won the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award in the field of HR’ by the World HRD Congress for his immense contributions in enriching the field of management, science, organisational behaviour and leadership.
 
He has served on the Boards of numerous companies and on the governing councils of several institutions. He has served as a member of Government of India’s National Renewal Fund and as trustee of India Brand Equity Fund Trust. He has won many international and Indian awards. Several international ‘Who’s Who’ carry his biographical entry.
 

Jal Patel

Mr. Jal Patel - Director
 
Mr Jal Patel, an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India as well as of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, has a professional experience of more than 45 years.
 
He was associated with the German FAG group of Bearing companies since 1962 where he handled various managerial functions. In 1977, he took over as the Managing Director of the company. Subsequently, he was promoted as the Vice Chairman and Managing Director before retiring in 2000. His areas of expertise include Finance, Accounts and Administration.
 
He is also actively involved with various social and welfare associations and federations as well as various trusts.
 
 

Ajit Kapadia

Mr. Ajit Kapadia - Director
 
Mr Ajit Kapadia is B.Sc. (Hons.) and M. Che. (Chemical Engineering). He has worked with Girdler Corporation of Louisville and Engineers India Limited (EIL). At EIL, Mr Kapadia had full involvement with Bombay High’s development plan and especially with natural gas processing and transportation.
 
In 1982, he was appointed as the head of the Gas Task Force, a group formed by the Petroleum Ministry to review the entire country’s natural gas availability and utilization pattern. In 1984, Mr Kapadia was appointed as the first Director (Planning) with Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL).

After three years at GAIL, he joined Hindustan Oil and Exploration Company Limited (HOEC) as the first employee and was soon invited to join the Board as the Managing Director. He has spent 17 years establishing HOEC as the first private sector oil company in India.
 
 

Bikash Bora

Mr. Bikash Bora - Director

Mr. Bora, 68, Graduate in Mechanical Engineering and Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) has been an oil man throughout his long career with extensive experience in the upstream sector of the Petroleum Industry both within and outside India.

After completing a distinguished span of service of a little over 38 years, culminating with the position of Chairman & Managing Director of ONGC, he is now a Consultant and Advisor to a number of companies engaged in the energy sector through his wholly owned consultancy company Enercon. Mr. Bora started his career with Oil India Ltd., as a Production Engineer in 1962. He was also the Chairman & Managing Director of Oil India Ltd. He has been a member of a number of important committees and task forces of the Government of India, related to the hydrocarbon and energy industries. He was also associated with a number of technical, social and sports organisations in the country as an important office bearer.

The current assignments of Mr. Bora include the following:
Vice President  - India Energy Forum New Delhi, Member - Energy Think Tank New Delhi, Independent Director  - Interlink Petroleum Ltd., Independent External Monitor  - Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Advisor (E&P) - Govt of Assam, Trustee   - Lovraj Kumar Memorial Trust New Delhi.
 

Shaleen Sharma

Mr. Shaleen Sharma - Managing Director

Mr Shaleen Sharma holds an MBA from Lucknow and has almost 28 years of industrial marketing experience, the last 24 of which have been in natural gas marketing with major oil and gas companies of India.

He was involved in marketing natural gas for ONGC for 12 years, initially in the Upper Assam area and later in Gujarat. In 1996, he moved to GAIL and co-ordinated the negotiations and execution of agreements for purchase of Panna-Mukta, Tapti (PMT) gas. In April 1998, he was deputed to Petronet LNG Limited where he was actively associated in a bid process for procuring and finalising the LNG Sale Purchase Agreement for 7.5 mtpa with RasGas of Qatar. He has been with BG India for over eight years and has been associated with a variety of assignments including LNG marketing, representing BG on the Operator Board of the PMT Joint Venture. Since April 2005, he has been leading BG’s effort to market PMT gas directly to the identified buyers.

In June 2005, Mr Shaleen Sharma moved to Ahmedabad to head commercial activities of GGCL that includes gas sourcing, marketing, transmission and CNG. In July 2007 he assumed charge as the Managing Director of GGCL.
