Following are the major advantages of PNGover other conventional fuels.
PNG is lighter than air. If natural gas leaks, it has a tendency to rise up in the air. It does not remain at the ground level as in case of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). This apart, the explosive limit for PNG: Air mixture is much higher than that for LPG: Air Mixture (Minimum concentration for explosion is 5% for NG against 2% for LPG). Consequently, the potential for an explosion in case of a leak is lower than LPG and hence it is safer to use.
It is very convenient to use PNG. There is no need to replace bottles month after month or register for refilling. It is available at the turn of the tap. There is no fear of shortage or transporters strike etc. Even during the natural calamities like floods in Surat in 1998 & 2006, natural gas supply continued uninterrupted. There is no storage of bottles etc required in the house, thus saving space.
It is very economical to utilize PNG as a fuel for cooking/water heating as compared to LPG.
There are multiple applications of natural gas world over in addition to cooking. The typical applications are space cooling (through VAC or Vapor Absorption Chiller), space heating (in countries having cool climate), water heating, micro generators etc. Except for water heating, the other applications are not commonly used in India in the domestic segment, primarily due to high capital requirement to purchase this equipment.
All major OEM's service centres are available in Surat and hence the customer shall receive all required maintenance and service support.
Yes, gas appliances keep working for you even when the electricity is off. The Surat floods of 2006 had seen entire city inundated with water. Most of the citizens caught amidst waters survived primarily on PNG of GGCL to heat water for drinking and cooking.
